Looking for a fun and simple St. Patrick’s Day craft to do with your kids? This adorable Leprechaun Shamrock Craft is perfect for preschoolers, kindergarteners, and early elementary children!

With bright green paper, googly eyes, and a sparkly gold hat buckle, this craft is sure to bring smiles and a little Irish cheer to your home or classroom. 🌈✨

Whether you’re planning a classroom party, homeschool activity, or festive afternoon craft time, this shamrock friend is easy to make and budget-friendly.

✂️ Supplies You’ll Need

  • Green cardstock (light and dark shades)

  • Orange cardstock

  • Gold glitter paper or foam

  • Black paper

  • 2 large googly eyes

  • 2 small orange pom-poms (for cheeks)

  • Green glitter foam or paper (for hat)

  • Small yellow button (optional)

  • Green tissue paper (optional)

  • Glue

  • Scissors

  • Black yarn or marker

🟢 Step 1: Create the Shamrock Base

Start by cutting a large shamrock from green cardstock. This becomes the body of your leprechaun!

👀 Step 2: Add the Face

Glue two googly eyes in the center of the shamrock.

Attach two small orange pom-poms underneath for rosy cheeks.

Draw or glue on a smile using black yarn or a marker to give your shamrock a happy personality.

💪 Step 3: Make Accordion Arms

Cut two long strips of green paper and fold them back and forth accordion-style to create springy arms.

Cut small hand shapes from orange paper and glue them to the ends. Then attach the arms to each side of the shamrock body.

Kids love how the arms bounce!

🎩 Step 4: Create the Leprechaun Hat

Cut a rectangle from green glitter foam or cardstock for the hat top.

Cut a curved oval for the brim and glue the pieces together.

Add a black strip across the hat for the band and glue a small gold square in the center for the buckle.

Attach the finished hat to the top of the shamrock.

🎀 Step 5: Add the Bow Tie

Cut a bow shape from gold glitter paper and glue a small button in the center.

Attach it just above the stem for an extra festive touch.
